Welcome to the Republican Climate!
How I Used to Be a
Republican and
Why I Stopped
I used to be a Republican back in the
gentle days of Gerald Ford. ...

The Republican leadership in the United States has created a stifling
and degenerate climate in American political and social life. This
website (which does not yet have very much content) is an ongoing
documentation of the
ways in
which the leadership has been creating this climate.
Much of this information goes back to the administration of George W.
Bush and Dick Cheney. As of the 2010 elections, the Republican Party
claims to be a new party, leaving behind the abuses of the past. But
this website documents some of those abuses. I am skeptical that
the Republican Party has really become a new and clean party. I believe
that they are just whitewashing themselves, and that they plan to
continue the destructive practices they have used in previous decades.
Of course, we will find out, won't we?
Republicans are ushering in a new era in the world. They are creating a
new climate, one that will become ever more oppressive and chaotic. I
believe that people of the future will look back and blame the
Republican Party for the oppressive and chaotic world in which they
will find themselves. It will be a globally-warmed world with
disastrous climate, with economic and political chaos. I predict that
the people of the future will call it "the Republican Climate."
- Climate of global
warming. The Republican Party, under its
current leadership, is the principal force in the world today that is
blocking any meaningful action to prevent disruptive global climate
change.
- Climate of hypocrisy. The
Republican
Party,
under
its
current
leadership,
presents itself as the party of godliness and family
values, yet they have more ethical lapses than any other political
party in the world.
- Climate of
intimidation.The
Republican
Party,
under its current
leadership, gets what it wants almost solely through intimidation. If
there is one Republican in the room, he or she assumes that God has put
them in charge. If Republicans are a 41 percent minority, they are
willing to disable the government until they get what they want. If
they are a majority, they ruthlessly suppress all disagreement.
- Climate of economic
chaos. The Republican Party, under its
current leadership, is directly responsible for policies that
encouraged financial institutions to create the financial crisis that
may be the major threat to world security today.
- Climate
of war.
The
Republican Party, under its current
leadership, considers war to be its first or only option in dealing
with international tensions, and they are willing to make up evidence
as justification for military action.
- Climate of lying.
The Republican Party, under its current
leadership, gets people to believe them by repeating the same lies over
and over even after the lie has been exposed.
- Climate of
parasitism. The Republican Party, under its
current
leadership, has parasitized the Christian religion and turned it into
nothing more than a method of getting their way.
- Climate of
lawlessness. The Republican Party, under its
current
leadership, considers itself to be exempt from laws that get in the way
of their desired objectives.
- Climate of
oppression
and
poverty. The Republican Party, under
its current leadership, endorses policies that maintain and expand the
gap between rich and poor in the United States and in the world.
- Climate of
corruption. The Republican Party, under its
current
leadership, is associated with political and business corruption to a
much greater extent than Democrats.
- Climate of
pollution. The Republican Party, under its
current
leadership, prevents any action that would curtail pollution and
environmental destruction, and is on the brink of undoing even the
environmental progress of the 1970s.
If your response is, "I'm a Republican, and I'm not like this," then I
say,
I'm glad to hear it. These statements do not refer to you
personally.
These statements do describe the leadership of the Republican
Party. Contact them and tell them that their actions do not represent
you. They need to hear this and maybe, just maybe, they will respond to
people like you.
